Sugarloaf, January '03....second set was freaking off the HOOK.
Unfortunately my night was ruined later that evening when I was thrown into a snowbank, by a girl |

So many stand out for their own reasons...
Couple worth mentioning off the top of my head:
9/13/2002 TLA Philly - hell of a show at the TLA. Here is what I wrote about it 2 years ago: "I just listened to this show a couple weeks ago... KILLER In Deep in set 1... one of the best to date at the time. it was as if someone went and told the band at setbreak that the room was filled with hardcores!!! Set 2 was just absolutely creme-de-la-creme Strangefolk!!! They went 2, then 3 songs deep, and WOW! ...what a Zeppelin cover!!!! These discs are SICK!!!!" I just checked and the link at the archive is not working, but it used to be here, maybe its just me? Or maybe the archive is down?

3/21/2003 State Theater Portland - Stacy and I drove over from VT and we missed ALL of set 1... we were kinda bummed but have no fear, check out...
Set 2:
Round
Devils Road->Jam->Devils Road
To the Moon or Bust
Who I Am,
Fallin'->Jumping Jack Flash->Safety Dance->Run to You->Fallin'
Criminal,
Neighbor
Pawn
Encore: I've just seen a Face
Life During Wartime
^ Thats just insane!!! |

I think this may be my favorite Folk show ever. Unfortunately it did not get taped - the band's DAT deck blew up just before the Colorado run. Lisa Jean was there, she can back me up!

1 Set:
All the Same
Gets You Movin'

Bait
Water
Restlessly
Windowseat
Whatever
Lost My Way
Paint
Dear Prudence
Pawn

Hands down my favorite is 10-12-01 in New York City... the energy was amazing! It was a month after September 11 and just a few blocks from ground zero. It was such a weird time in that anthrax was found in the city that day and everyone in the city just needed to cut loose. To top off the night it was also the Open Road cd release and Patchen's first NYC Strangefolk show. Oh yeah- and the boys tore it up! Highlights were a shakedown->dancin'->shakedown and an off the hook Lines & Circles... this show remains my top concert of any band of all time...
the Reid reunion set at Garden of Eden 2003 is also one of my favorites...
in regards to 9-13-02 that so many people have mentioned, I agree that it was a great show but the security at the TLA took my piece so that cast a negative vibe on the night for me... |
