New Release: Strangefolk Live @ Capitol Theater, Portchester, NY, 12/27/98

We are pleased to announce the archival release of Strangefolk's first and only performance at the legendary Capitol Theatre in Portchester, NY on December 27, 1998. This release is also a tip of the hat to our longtime friend and advocate, Pete Shapiro. Pete's impressive resume in the national music scene would fill several pages but on a Strangefolk-centric level he's the guy who, as the erstwhile owner of Wetlands, gave us our real start in NYC, cold-called Nile Rogers and got him involved in producing "A Great Long While," was an original organizer of the Jammys for which we won the "Home Grown Music Award" in 2000, and got the four original members of Strangefolk together on the phone to discuss playing together again. At that time the hope was that we'd play the grand reopening of the classic Capitol Theater, his latest venture (For more info see the NYTimes article on the subject). The conversations went so well that we ended up being ready to play before the venue was ready to reopen. We'd like to toast Pete and thank him for all the support he's shown Strangefolk through the years. We hope you enjoy this special show from our archive.

This release will be available through iTunes and nugs.net on Tuesday March 13th.

Celebrating 10 years of StrangeCreek!
It's the 10th anniversary of the amazing StrangeCreek Campout! Each year this festival gets better and better. To help us celebrate this special weekend in style we'll have our good friend Russ Lawton holding down the groove on drums. We couldn't be more pleased to have Russ back in the fold for what will surely be a memorable weekend.

We will be playing the Vernville stage on Sunday afternoon followed by a full two set performance on the main stage. Last year the festival sold out so be sure to get your tickets early!
